"Racing Rivals" Live at Rockingham,
3rd August
05 July 2003
- Free entry to hottest motor racing event as
seen on TV
- “Sugababes” performing live
- Family entertainment all day
Be part of Britain’s hottest motor racing action when “Racing
Rivals” Live comes to Rockingham on 3rd August - and entry
tickets are FREE*. Named after the fly-on-the-wall TV show
that follows the on and off track stories of the SEAT Cupra Championship (broadcast
from 26th July on ITV1), this summer spectacular event is a fabulous
family day out. There’s a full motor racing programme and
an entertainment line up to equal the race excitement, starring teen-idol
R&B trio, the Sugababes, and compered by Radio 1’s irreverent
DJ’ing duo, Mark and Lard.
Rockingham is the perfect setting for the “Racing Rivals”
Live event, with an unlimited view of the entire circuit from almost
all of the 52,000 grandstand seats. The equally matched SEAT Leon Cupra
R racing cars will use Rockingham’s 2.4-mile International road
course, including part of the unique banked oval circuit - the fastest
race track in Europe.
The “Racing Rivals” TV crew and co-presenters, supermodel
Nell McAndrew and Touring Car ace, Jason Plato, will all be at Rockingham
capturing the action for the small screen as the competition tension
mounts. After rounds 3 & 4 which took place on the Grand Prix
circuit at Silverstone on 26th May, only one point separates the leaders,
Robert Huff and Stefan Hodgetts, as they continue the battle for the
prize of a lifetime – a year as a professional racing driver for
SEAT competing in the European Touring Car Championship 2004. The
prize attracts all the trappings of a racing driver lifestyle including
salary, company car and use of a flat in Monaco rubbing shoulders with
the rich and famous. But the competition is far from over with
rounds 5 & 6 still to take place at Oulton Park (13 July) before
the Rockingham showdown, and fourteen other talented young hopefuls
chasing the prize behind the leaders.
