1 Million Dollar Prize Fund for 2004 Days
of Thunder Championship

Following on from the success of the 2003 season, the Days of Thunder
Championship will once again boast the biggest prize fund in British
motorsport.
Last year's million-dollar prize fund proved to be successful in attracting
teams and drivers, with 28 drivers competing throughout the season.
The combination of start money, finishers' payments down to 14th place,
controlled costs and low levels of car value depreciation, mean that
Days of Thunder racing offers teams the most cost-effective budget of
any major series and attracted major sponsors such as LEGO, McDonalds,
Texaco, Reebok and the Territorial Army.
"The million-dollar prize fund for the teams and drivers has been
a great success in ensuring spectacular, but cost-effective racing,"
said Rockingham CEO Ashley Pover. "By focusing our attention on
racing exclusively at Rockingham in 2004 means that competing in the
series will be even more cost-effective for those involved."
In 2003 over 150,000 people travelled to the Northamptonshire facility
to see the combination of fast, action packed racing and live music
by some of the UK's top music talent.
"We have a first-class facility here at Rockingham - every one
can sit in comfort and watch these spectacular Days of Thunder muscle
cars compete wheel-to-wheel on the oval at average lap speeds of over
150mph," says Pover. "Our customers can then wander to the
stage behind the Rockingham building and watch a top-of-the-bill music
event before they make their journey home. People want a thoroughly
memorable day out and we deliver it."
