MotorSport Vision has completed a major project to resurface the entire Brands Hatch Indy circuit this week, by stripping and replacing the track from halfway down the Brabham Straight through to Cooper Straight.
The resurfacing investment had originally been scheduled for completion at the start of the season, however extreme weather conditions meant that just over half the Indy circuit was resurfaced and an alternative opportunity had to be found in order to finish the project.
Following the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship event on the Grand Prix circuit last weekend (7/8 August), a team of 40 staff from Buckingham Group Contracting worked throughout the night to resurface the remaining areas of the Indy configuration - completing the improvements in less than 48 hours.
The smoother, high quality surface has been laid using 1,300 tonnes of the same Prixmat material used on the areas of the circuit that have already been replaced this year, from mid-way down Cooper Straight to the centre of the pit straight.
Mike Groves, Brands Hatch circuit manage, said: "Unfortunately, a snowy spell earlier this year meant we were unable to complete resurfacing work on the Indy circuit before the season started
