FIA GT Championships, Silverstone
Silverstone, 5-6 May 2007
The UK's round of the FIA
GT Championship, is back at Silverstone again this year, but the championship's
expansion since the launch of the GT3 European Series last year should
make this an awesome event for GT fans. The "main event" will
be the FIA GT Championship race for the GT1 and GT2 big boys: machinery
including the awesome Aston Martin DBR9 and Maserati MC12.
GT3 will
also bring a wide range of manufacturers with close and spectacular
racing guaranteed from the class for cars closer to their road-going
counterparts: DBRS9, Ascari KZ1 and Lotus Exige were highlights last
year and should be amongst the dozen or so different cars racing for
the honours this time. New for this season is GT4 - a further step
closer to road-spec providing more cost effective racing, and so more
variety. Already tested for this new series are Ford Mustangs, Aston
Martin Vantage N24 and Nissan 350Z.
Team all this with a GT90's Revival
race (think Ferrari F40LM, McLaren F1) and it looks like being one
of the finest motor racing events of the summer. Definitely one not
to miss.
