Girls Power to Impressive Finish In British
GT Season Opener
07 April 2003
The mighty Harrier Zeuros backed Dodge Viper being campaigned
by Annie Templeton and Amanda Stretton (Channel 5’s Dream Machine
presenter), made its race debut in Sundays British GT championship round
at Donington Park.
Girl Power Racings 200 mph Le Mans machine is being run
by CMS technical and race operations of Buntingford, Herts, who in 2001
and 2002 were the official factory MG team at the world famous Le Mans
24 hour race, and the ultimate aim of the team is to take an all girl
driver team to the classic French event.
Sundays
race saw the girls finish in a creditable, but un-representative 11th
place. Team manager Doug Bebb commented “Annie and Amanda have
done a fantastic job, we arrived on Thursday with zero track time, and
yet every time out on the track we have gone quicker and quicker. We
would certainly have finished comfortably higher up the order had we
not been the only team who had to sit in the pits for a compulsory two
minutes when refuelling”
The team now have a solid base to work on and look forward
to the next race at Snetterton, where a longer two hour race distance
will mean that all of the runners will have that dreaded 2 minute long
extra stop to contend with.
