MG Ready to Take on Thruxton Challenge
19 May 2003
MG ZS drivers Anthony Reid, Warren Hughes and Colin Turkington
will head south this weekend to the fastest circuit on the British Touring
Car Championship calendar. Thruxton plays host to rounds 5 & 6 of
the Championship and after a promising performance from the MG Sport
& Racing team at Brands Hatch last time out the team will be looking
to secure that all important first podium finish.
Anthony Reid will be carrying an additional 9kg of success ballast
following his impressive 4th place in the final round at Brands Hatch.
On entering the race at a slightly heavier weight Anthony said: "I
think the car will go well at Thruxton based on the testing session
we completed in April. We know a great deal more about the Dunlop control
tyre and the areas where we experienced weaknesses last year have been
vastly improved. I'm very optimistic at our chances."
Warren Hughes was denied a podium place in round 3 at Brands Hatch.
A collision with another car sent him off into the gravel on the final
corner of the race. Heading to Thruxton weight free Warren said: "At
Brands Hatch I feel we learnt a lot about the car and in particular
about the new Dunlop tyres. Although Thruxton is almost the opposite
extreme to Brands Hatch with long fast corners I believe we will be
very competitive. I don't believe the results to date are a true reflection
of the MG ZS's competitiveness and hopefully at Thruxton we'll be able
to show what the car is capable of."
