Touring at the Rock

Britain’s premier road race saloon car series makes
it debut at Europe’s fastest race circuit this weekend when the
British Touring Cars visits Rockingham, near Corby, for the first time
in the tracks two year history.
Vauxhall aces James Thompson and Ivan Muller will arrive
at the Northamptonshire circuit fresh from their victories at Silverstone
two weeks ago, with Muller pulling out a 19 point advantage of his English
teammate in the overall drivers championship. However, Matt Neal (Honda),
Anthony Reid (MG), Alan Morrison (Honda) and Paul O’Neill (Vauxhall)
will be looking to gain the initiative at a new track, where circuit
knowledge doesn’t count and provides a level playing field for
all the teams.
BTCC racing machines are based on their road going equivalents
such as the Vauxhall Astra Coupe, Honda Civic Type R, MG ZS, Proton
Impian and Peugeot 307. However, underneath the body work these cars
are out and out racing machines and provide plenty of door-to-door racing
action.
Rockingham
provides every spectator the opportunity to watch all of this high powered
racing action in comfort and style. Every ticket entitles the bearer
to an unreserved grandstand seat (there are 52,000 to choose from) from
which they can watch the entire race without interruption. Every ticket
also includes a paddock pass so you can get close to the cars, ideal
for getting a few autographs from the easily accessible race drivers.
You can even watch the race from the top of the pit garages and stand
30 feet from the cars as they complete the mandatory pitstops in the
two BTCC races this weekend.
A full programme of support races, including Formula
Renault, Porsche Carrera Cup, Formula Ford, Renault Clio and Legends
ensure an action packed day out for the whole family.
