Half Points Awarded for Shortened Cupra Championship
Race
25 July 2003
Half points have been awarded for round six of the Holiday Inn SEAT
Cupra Championship and the results of the race, which took place at
Oulton Park on July 13, have been finalised.
With the race schedule at Oulton Park running late, all afternoon races
were reduced in length – including round six of the Holiday Inn
SEAT Cupra Championship race, which was initially reduced from 11 to
eight laps. However, with a curfew forcing all racing to stop by
18.30, the SEAT race only lasted four laps before the chequered flag
was deployed after four laps at 18.28.
The allocation of Championship points confirms Gordon Shedden as the
winner of round 6 of the Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship, with his
first win of the series netting him 10 Championship points. It
promotes Gordon to 2nd place in the series, two points ahead of Stefan
Hodgetts (who didn’t start round six, following an accident on
the previous round earlier the same day). Robert Huff finished
2nd in the shortened race and scores 8.5 points to extend his lead in
the Championship to 23 points.
With four races and 74 points still available, the title is unlikely
to be decided until the end of the final Championship race at Thruxton
on Sunday 17 August.
‘Racing Rivals – Live’ at Rockingham hosts rounds
seven and eight of the Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship on Sunday
3 August. In what will be a fantastic family day out, in addition
to the exciting racing there will be live music. Hosted by Radio 1 DJs
Mark and Lard, the Sugababes will be the star act performing live on
stage.
