V8-powered American racing saloons sharing the bill with chart-topping
singer Kym Marsh and top boyband Triple 8.
On the track, a full grid of the ASCAR Days of Thunder muscle cars
will thrill the crowds in the LEGO Racers 200 event. Favourites include
championship leader Ben Collins in the Territorial Army-backed Deuce
Racing RML Chevrolet and fellow race winners Ian McKellar Jr., in the
dsi AnyDoc/ Torquespeed Chevrolet, Germany’s Roland Rehfeld and
‘Flying Dutchman’ Michael Vergers.
There will be supporting action from the highly-entertaining Pickup
Trucks, the Lego racers driving school, the Adrenaline Alley ramp and
skateboard park, a funfair and a creche for the younger members of the
family. Music fans are in for a treat with performances by two top acts
on the Rockingham stage.
At the start of 2001 Kym Marsh was an unknown 24 year-old singer from
Wigan, with a dream of greater things. By the end of 2002, the Lancashire
girl’s talent and independent spirit had won her ‘Pop Star’
TV stardom, sold millions of records and sold out a 36-date nationwide
arena tour. Now, following the success of her debut solo album ‘Standing
Tall’ and solo single ‘Cry’, she’s heading for
Rockingham!
Triple 8 originally hail from Bristol, where school mates Sparx and
Justin first set up the band over six years ago. On their way to the
big time they were joined by Londoners Josh Barnett and Jamie Bell,
along with Triple 8’s ‘resident charmer’, Blackpool
boy David Wilcox. The band are happy to admit to being a boyband, aiming
to raise the game for boybands musically, with cutting edge anthems
like ‘Yo Yo’ and ‘Hit the Bone’ mingling with
classic ballads like ‘To Die For’.
