'Race Idol' Web Vote to Decide Grid for £100,000
Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix at Brands Hatch
12 August 2003
In a groundbreaking ‘race idol’ type web vote, motorsport
fans can log onto www.seatcuprachampionship.com and cast a vote to decide
the grid for the first of two races in the Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix
– which takes place at Brands Hatch on Sunday 28th September.
TheSEAT Leon Cupra R driver with the most votes gets to start the first
race on pole and the driver with the least number of votes will start
at the back of the grid. You have to be a member of the Cupra Paddock
Club to vote – and you can register on line as well. Membership
is completely free and allows you ‘back stage’ access into
the SEAT Cupra paddock, where you can catch up on all the very latest
Cupra racing gossip, interviews, features and enter some fantastic competitions
– including a chance to win Nell McAndrew’s road car!
Fans can vote for their favourite SEAT driver or vote tactically, but
each Cupra Paddock Club member will only be allowed one vote –
so each vote really will influence the grid.
The web voted grid will race around the 2.6 mile Brands Hatch Grand
Prix Circuit, and the results of that race will determine the grid positions
for the Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix, which will be held on the 1.2 mile
Brands Hatch Indy Circuit later the same day (Sunday 28th September).
With a prize fund of £100,000 on offer, the two non-Championship
Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix races are guaranteed to be as fast and as
furious as all the SEAT races have been this season. The Holiday Inn
SEAT Cupra Champion, having already won a works drive with SEATUKin
the 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship, will not be eligible
for these Super Prix awards, for the cash prizes will go towards a driver’s
2004 Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship budget. And what cash
prizes they are, with the winner of the Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix
receiving a cheque for £30,000, 2nd place receiving £25,000
and the 3rd placed driver netting £20,000 – with additional
prizes down the finishing order and the Holiday Inn fastest lap awards.
The Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix will be filmed by ITV and broadcast
later in the year on a Racing Rivals special on ITV2 – the exact
date and time will be announced in your local press.
One of the drivers who could shine in the Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix
is Andre D’Cruze. The 26-year old Hot Wheels / GamePod Leon Cupra
R driver lives near Brands Hatch inOrpington,Kentand became interested
in motorsport when he, as a young boy, went to Brands Hatch to watch
his father race. He knows the Brands Hatch circuits very well,
and loves racing in front of his local crowd. What’s more,
Andre is on top form at the moment, having finished 3rd and 4th at Rockingham
– his best race results of the season.
“I’ve raced all over theUKand in theUSA, but there is no
better circuit for me than Brands Hatch,” says Andre. “I
remember being about five years old and watching my father race at Brands
Hatch – and from that moment on I was hooked on motor racing. It
will be great to return to Brands Hatch this year with SEAT and race
on my local track in the Holiday Inn SEAT Super Prix. It’s a big
prize fund, and I’ll be aiming to win it!”
