New International Historic Motorsport Show
for 2004
03
January 2004
With motorsport now over a century old, and a flourishing Historic
motorsport scene in the UK, the organisers, drivers, owners and associated
industry now have a new annual show in Historic Motorsport International.
Bringing together all aspects of the sport, the event will showcase
the vehicles from the 1920's to early 1990's which are currently being
actively campaigned.
Covering race and rally, the main aim of the event is to bring together
the event, championship and series organisers in the UK and Europe,
along with the preparation and restoration experts, the supporting trade
and the historic enthusiasts. Held at the Stoneleigh Park conference
centre near Coventry, the main halls will house 300 stands plus 50 event
organisations. There will be special displays of around 150 competition
cars, engineering and preparation areas, business briefings and a live
single-stage rally event featuring star drivers which will run twice
on each of the shows public days. Stig Blomqvist, Pentti Airikkala,
Tony Fall, Russell Brookes and Rosemary Smith will all be in action
on the stage with an array of cars from the golden age of rallying,
including a factory Audi quattro, a Sunbeam Tiger and a Porsche 911.
There will also be an Auction of important cars, motorcycles and motorsport
memorablia by H&H Classic Auctions, and the inaugural Historic Motorsport
Awards Charity Dinner on Saturday 21 February, hosted by Amanda Stretton,
with Stuart Turner as guest speaker.
Following a trade and preview day on Friday 20th February, tickets
for the 21-22 February public days are £15 for adults (13.50 advance)
or £25 for two-day entry (£23 advance). Entry for children
aged 5-15 is priced at £7.50 (£6.50 advance). Tickets can
be booked from the official site or the ticket hotline on 0870 906 2002.
