March 2004
The British GT Jedi Racing team of Rob Horsfield and Frazer Corbyn
will be supported in its championship campaign by the students of Weavers
School in Wellingborough as part of the Lunar Racing project. The students
are already running a car in the Formula Jedi championship, alongside
students from Tresham Institute who are responsible for the preparation
of the project's Formula Ford car.
Team Jedi Racing will be running a Lotus Motorsport Elise in the
high-profile, televised championship, giving all involved in the project
further
contact and
experience with top-line racing. The British GT championship is supported
at most rounds by the Formula Ford series, giving the teams a number
of all-action weekends with both cars on track on the same days.
Jedi Racing was formed by the team at Jedi Racing Cars
in Wellingborough, who have been working closely with Weavers School
in the preparation of their Jedi racer. Having the team involved in
the
preparation of the Lotus is of clear benefit to all parties, particularly
the students who stand to gain invaluable experience through the duration
of the championship.
As part of Lunar Racing's ongoing Featured
Team status, MSport-UK
will be following the progress of the Elise throughout the
season and providing results and behind-the-scenes information about
the project. The first test of the Lotus, and further tests of Lunar
Racing's Formula Ford and Jedi cars will be held at Silverstone on
Friday 5th March.
