Donington Test Boosts Morgan Works' Preparation
for Sebring

January 2004
The Morgan Works Race Team was at Donington Park this week for shake-down
testing of the Aero 8 LMGT car before embarking for Florida for the
12 Hours race at Sebring.
Despite enduring sub-zero early morning temperatures in the bright
sunshine, the team was in increasingly high spirits as all major systems
checked out perfectly and the car, running for the first time on tyres
from new technical partners Yokohama, put in some impressive times
on the newly-resurfaced track.
19 year-old team lead driver Adam Sharpe comments:
"As a shake-down test, I thought it went very well. The car
felt quick, stable and good under braking, so I was happy with the
way things
went. The set-up was very much geared towards Sebring and I think
we'll go well there - it's an important race for the team and it's
clear that a lot has been achieved during the winter to move the
programme forward."
The Team, which has established a reputation for refusing to buckle
even under severe pressure, has won over many fans both inside and
outside the motorsport world as it battles against a lack of major
funding, technical problems and serious crashes on its road back to
Le Mans glory.
Team Manager David Dowse comments:
"Today’s test has left us with warm hearts, despite our
very cold feet! The car’s performance is very encouraging, and
we are really pleased with the way in which our technical partners,
Yokohama Tyres,
KW Suspension and Magnetti Marelli are gelling with the team.
"We are all now really looking forward to the challenge of Sebring,
and hopefully, to winning our place at Le Mans in 2004."
