Huge Upsurge in Registrations for 2004 Kwik
Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship

Organisers of the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship are
hugely encouraged by the significant upsurge in entries to this year's
Championship.
With more than a month to go before the first official event in the
Championship, BRCL Limited, the Championship organisers, have already
received more than 4 times the number of entries received at the same
stage last year. And these numbers make them very optimistic
that entry levels overall will be well in excess of last year - both
in terms of quality and quantity.
"It confirms to us that the British Rally Championship is the pinnacle
of British rally sport and a firm aspiration for those teams and drivers who
want to lead in British and International rallying", reported Ian Coomber,
Chairman, BRCL Limited.
"In particular, we believe this huge response reflects the commitment
we have made this year to make the BRC more appealing and accessible. More
compact event formats enable teams to compete with less time out of
work and fewer overnight
stays. There are also more benefits for the teams than ever before, including
increased television exposure on Channel 4 and coverage in The Sun."
Beginning in April 2004 with the Pirelli International Rally at Gateshead,
the 2004 BRC takes drivers and fans on a tour touching all corners of the
British Isles, including Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of
Man. Channel
4 will be bringing the highs and lows of each event to the small screen throughout
the season and The Sun newspaper will feature regular reports.
"The British Rally Championship is the UK's premiere rally
series and the 2004 season looks set to be a vintage year with this
fantastic level of interest at
this early stage" concluded Ian Coomber.
