Dealer Team Suzuki Debuts at BRC Live 2004
22
March 2004
BRC Live 2004 marks the first public appearance in the UK of newly-created
Dealer Team Suzuki and its star driver, 23-year old Guy Wilks (Darlington,
County Durham).
As the team prepares for its competitive debut on the
Pirelli International Rally - the event which will kick-off the Kwik-Fit/Pirelli
British
Rally Championship proper on 23 April - BRC Live will give fans and
media alike the opportunity to see, first-hand, the stunning Suzuki
Ignis Super 1600 rally car.
Wilks and co-driver Phil Pugh (Tywyn, Gwynedd), who are also contesting
the 2004 Junior World Rally Championship with Suzuki, will put the
five-door 1.6-litre Ignis through its paces as part of BRC Live and
the pairing is greatly looking forward to the event.
Wilks commented: "We're delighted to be part of the British Rally
Championship this year in the Suzuki Ignis Super 1600 and confidence
is high among everyone at Dealer Team Suzuki that we stand a great
chance of winning the Super 1600 category.
"
BRC Live promises to be a tremendous event and it's good for the public,
whether they're rally fans or not, to have such an opportunity to get
close to the British Rally Championship cars - and in particular the
new Dealer Team Suzuki outfit.
"
Suzuki's engineers have worked hard to make the Ignis a really strong
all rounder and it is now probably the best car in Super 1600. We aim
to give everyone a good idea of its capabilities at BRC Live."
In 2003 Suzuki recorded two wins and eight other podiums on the Junior
World Rally Championship, proving beyond any shadow of a doubt the
Ignis has the performance to conquer both gravel and asphalt events.
Dealer Team Suzuki is, therefore, highly confident in its chances of
success in the BRC this year.
Suzuki GB Director of Sales and Marketing David Seward said: "Dealer
Team Suzuki will represent our 150 dealers across the country and we're
confident that in Guy Wilks we have the very best home-grown rallying
star since world champions Colin McRae and Richard Burns."
He added: "Suzuki GB is delighted that the Ignis Super 1600 and
Guy and Phil are to be key players in the 2004 championship and we're
sure that together they stand an excellent chance of winning the title."
