March 2004
The British GT Open Day at the world-famous Brands Hatch Circuit in
Kent saw the Scuderia Ecosse GT Racing Team announce exciting plans
for 2004.
Scuderia Ecosse will enter two cars in the new-look British GT Championship,
which kicks off in April at Donington Park and culminates at Brands
Hatch in October. The team will run a brand new Ferrari 360 GTC for
Andrew Kirkaldy and Nathan Kinch; and a Ferrari 360 GT for Chris Niarchos
and Tim Mullen. Team Owner and Principal, Stewart Roden, explains the
teams ambitions: "In 2004 we want to win the British GT Championship.
To do this we need to have a solid driver line-up and I think in Andrew,
Nathan Chris and Tim, that's what we've got. They all have proven track
records, run fast and consistently, and most importantly want to win."
Scuderia Ecosse's dream is the be the first Scotland-based team in
over 40 years to race and win at the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour race.
The team is delighted to announce its assault on the GTN Class at Le
Mans this year, starting with Pre-Qualifying in late April. The team
will also contest two of the Le
Mans Endurance Series races. Stewart
continues, "When we formed Scuderia Ecosse our biggest dream was to
win the GTN class at Le Mans so we're pleased to be making good progress
with that. We would have loved to do the full LMES series too but there
are a couple of clashes with the British GT Championship so for this
year we'll do the races at the Nurburgring and Spa."
Scuderia Ecosse goes racing with full endorsement from the Ferrari
factory in Maranello, Italy, with continued support of N Power
and the Cobra Group, and a new sponsorship from Credico. Racing with
Ferrari, Scuderia Ecosse is a team on the move. A further day's testing
at Mondello Park on 29 March will complete the team's preparations
for the first rounds of the British GT Championship at Donington Park
on 3-4 April.
