Days of Thunder
20 April 2004
Leading Days of Thunder racer Anthony Swan has signed to compete in
the 2004 Championship at Rockingham with Torquespeed.
Anthony, from
the village of Gretton which is just two miles from Rockingham, finished
6th in the 2003 series, with the highlight of the year coming when
he took pole position and the fastest lap at Eurospeedway
in Germany. He is also a well known face with local school children
when, as part of the Rockingham / Days of Thunder roadshow, he visited many of the local primary schools in the Corby area last year.
"I am really looking forward to the coming season at Rockingham
driving for top team Torquespeed," said Anthony. "This will
be my third season
in Days of Thunder and my sights are firmly set on the top step of
the podium."
John Mickel, Torquespeed Team Principle, said: "Anthony
will make a strong addition to the team of drivers created
by Torquespeed for this year's campaign and we look forward
to getting him in a Torquespeed prepared car and on the track as soon as possible!"
The first meeting of the 2004 season takes place at Rockingham
on Sunday 2nd May. A large crowd is expected as the off track
entertainment will be headlined by No 1 band Blue, who are
performing for 60 minutes live on the Smash Hits Rockingham stage.
