Motorcycle Heroes Xaus and Haslam Powerslide
to Victory in HotBuggy Spectacular at Donington Park
27 July 2004
MotoGP star Ruben Xaus and World Superbike ace Leon Haslam tied for
the win ahead of an impressive array of talent in the HotBuggy Challenge
at Day of Champions on Thursday 22nd July. Motocross world champion
Jamie Dobb was only a few tenths of a second behind the two Ducati
riders,
with
World Rally Production Cup champion Martin Rowe suffering from a time
penalty to be relegated down the field after a blistering performance.
Day of Champions, the annual British MotoGP opener, organised by transport
charity Riders for Health was once again host to the thrilling spectacle
of the The HotBuggy
Challenge. The HotBuggy, a single-seat, high-performance kart designed by leading
WRC engineers and powered by a 600cc motorcycle engine, allowed the drivers to
put on an awesome display of side-ways power-sliding for the thousands of people
enjoying the fun-filled day at Donington Park.
The arena, The HotBuggy Park – developed from what
was the 4x4 track at
Donington and now features a gravel-surface— is a rally-style stage laid
out by world-renowned track designer and Rallyschool expert Bill Gwynne that
will soon be open for the public to enjoy the intensity of the HotBuggy experience.
MSport-UK will be on hand for a test drive and to let you know as soon as the
park opens!
