WSR Aim to Secure Independents Championship
at Donington Showdown
04 September 2004
The 2004 MSA Green Flag Touring Car Championship reaches
its finale this weekend at Donington Park. WSR team-mates Anthony Reid
and Colin Turkington will be battling it out in their MGs to secure
the title of BTCC Harrier Zeuros Independent Champion. The only other
competitor who can spoil the WSR party is Matt Neal.
Anthony will be one of the busiest drivers
on race day. As well as his current BTCC duties he'll also be lining
up on the grid for the BTCC
Masters race. Commenting on his hectic schedule Anthony said: "I'm
hoping to finish the season on a real high. We've made some developments
on the car since the last round at Snetterton which we're hoping will
improve our performance and bring success. I'm certainly going to be
busy, but it will be a great day."
Colin Turkington is currently place 2nd in the
Independent Championship standings and only 19 points adrift of Anthony.
With some good performances the title is not beyond his reach. Colin
said: "It'd
be nice to get a win at Donington and finish the season on a high note.
Obviously my main priority is the Independents Championship for which
I'm still in for a shout. If I can pick up maximum points the title
is certainly up for grabs."
Team Principal, Dick Bennetts added: "Our
aim at Donington is a one, two in the Independents Championship. It
would be great for Anthony to retain or improve his current position
in the overall Drivers Championship. A win or two in the final races
would be a great way to finish a very successful Independent Championship."
