MG Champion Evans Moves into Legends Cars
25 November 2004
Former MG Owners Club champion Nick Evans is making the switch to Legends
Cars in 2005.
Evans, 43 from Hemel Hempstead, has been eyeing up the competition
for some time and it was a Legends test drive last September that finally
saw him decide to make the move. "The car was awesome to
drive," says Nick. "I knew after just a couple of
corners that I wanted to race one. There's so much that's 'right'
about the Legends formula – balloted grids mean I’m going
to have to do some overtaking and everyone that's seen the car
thinks it's superb."
Evans started racing in Gearbox karts over a decade ago but took a
sabbatical to set up his own business. He then joined the BARC
MG Owners Club Championship racing a Maestro. He won the newcomers
trophy in 1996 and was outright Champion in 2001. Nick also won
the class championship in 2002, his first season racing an MG F.
Legends boss Phil Cooper is thrilled that Evans will be joining the
championship stating "This is good for our National Championship. Here's
another champion driver who has been impressed with both our cars and
the racing. He’s also got the courage to put his winning
reputation on the line and mix it with other successful drivers."
