Bumper Grid for Caterham Roadsports

27 January 2005

This year's Motorsport News Caterham Roadsport Challenge is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested in years, with 60 drivers already signed up to contest the twin-grid championship.

Caterham Motorsport has announced a 14-round calendar for the series, with two races at each of seven meetings for both the Roadsport Inter grid and the Roadsport B grid. Highlights of the season will be an appearance on the British GT/British F3 programme at Knockhill in late May, and races supporting October's Brands Hatch Formula Ford Festival.

"We have 33 drivers from last year's evo Caterham Academy signed up for Roadsport Bs," said Caterham director of motorsport Magnus Laird, "and currently 27 on the Roadsport Inter grid, which is a remarkable figure for January. We’re confident that now the provisional dates have been announced that several more will come on board."

Spread betting company City Index is to sponsor a three-car squad in the Inter category for drivers Jim Tatchell, Anthony di Lorenzo and Roger Norris. Norris – who commutes for racing from his home south of Paris – was 10th-placed Roadsport B driver last season.

Caterham motorsport enjoys the backing of Powertrain Ltd, Autosport, Motorsport News, evo, Arch Motors, Bilstein, Brian James Trailers, Cheesman Products, Comma, Cooper-Avon Tyres, Fairmont Insurance, The Finance Partnership, Harrington Generators International, MG XPOWER, Mitchell Cotts, PTP and Stack.
