Claire Tippet: 2004 Commitment Awarded as
2005 Plans are Finalised
25 February 2005
Cheltenham-based racing driver, Claire Tippet is celebrating success
at the recent VW Racing Cup Awards 2004 where she received the Superchips
Commitment
Award. Claire was awarded for her dedication to the series and impressive
debut in 2004, her first full year of competitive motorsport.
"I almost fell off my seat when my name was called out!" Claire
said, recalling the Awards dinner, "It was a great surprise and
accolade to receive. 2004 was my first year and it was a real learning
curve with many highs and lows so to get this award has really sealed
my first season on a positive note and makes me even keener to start
the next season!"
In 2005, Claire will once again compete in the VW Racing Cup, one of
the fastest growing saloon car championships in the country which can
boost some of the largest grids seen in national racing. Claire will
be behind the wheel of her Golf GTi MkI though for the coming season
the car is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul including a new engine.
'"We're planning on a move up to 2-litre power this year," said
Claire, 'because the Golf lacked torque. I'm hopeful that the better
acceleration will help me towards the front of the grid." She
is also thankful for engine support in the coming season from her employers,
Legends Racing of Cheltenham.
Further support will be forthcoming from her team-mates Dave Turner
(2.8 Beetle RSi) and Lloyd Allard (1.9 Golf TDI) of Allard Turner
Motor Racing, Cheltenham (www.atmr.co.uk). The Gloucestershire
trio will
be sporting a stunning white and blue team livery to be unveiled
shortly.
Each of the six 2005 VW Racing Cup race meetings comprises of two
races, with the first rounds at Donington Park, Leicestershire
on 2nd and
3rd April.
