John Clayton Begins 750MC Kitcar Team Selection
03 March 2005
John Clayton’s 750 Motor Club Kitcar campaign for this year will
be planned and the team decided on the 19th Feb. The group ‘Christiansinmotorsport.org.uk’ (CIM)
are meeting in Milton Keynes for a strategic planning day and John
will be delivering a presentation on the upcoming season before sitting
down with a number of the other delegates to shortlist the team.
The team last year included an RAF aerospace
engineer (Peter Fryatt) and Richard Owen (former Audi Sport UK chief
engineer and Honda BTCC
Touring car designer), and John will be hoping to gain their support
again for 2005. Other team members will be recruited for PR,
web design and sponsorship roles.
John commented: "I am fortunate to have had
links with CIM for a few years and the group has people at all echelons
of club and professional
motorsport, right up to Formula 1. The support and assistance from
expert engineers that I’ve met through the group is what made
the difference between contesting races and watching them from the
pits when we were struggling with the car last season."
The car had its first few race outings late
last year in the Kitcar championship and BRDC 'Eight Clubs revival'
races. It will also be appearing at the Scripture Union charity’s
motorsport youth holiday (to augment the kart racing instruction given)
and this
will be also be discussed, along with rallying and other activities
on the 19th Feb meeting, which is open to all.
John Clayton will be running a Fletcher Hornet
Mk.1 Kitcar under the CIM banner in Class A of the 750 Motor Club Kitcar
Championship and the RAF Motorsports Association Speed Championship.
John's Kitcar team will be a Featured
Team on MSportUK in 2005. For the latest details about this team, click
