Scuderia Ecosse and Marco Asmer Top the Time
Sheets at SRO Media Day

March 2005
Nathan Kinch and Andrew Kirkaldy were fastest British GT pairing during
the three hour testing session at SRO’s official Media day at
Silverstone. The Scuderia Ecosse drivers topped the sheets
ahead of their
team-mates Tim Mullen and Chris Niarchos. The closest anyone could
get to the Ferrari drivers were Mike Jordan and Michael Caine in the
Porsche RS for Team Eurotech.
One of the highlights of the day was the eagerly awaited launch of the revamped
Embassy Racing team. Owner Jonathan France and team manager Doug Bebb, alongside
drivers Neil Cunningham and Ben Collins, gave a press conference in front of
a huge crowed of journalists. Afterwards the Media was invited downstairs to
the garage to inspect the new Porsche RSR. The Embassy Racing Porsche was also
one of four cars to take invited guest around the circuit on VIP laps during
the lunch-time break.
In the morning's test session for the newly renamed British Formula 3 International
Seires, Estonian
Marco
Asmer,
driving
for
Hitech
Racing, was fastest on the Silverstone International circuit. Watched by a large
crowd of Media representatives, Asmer topped the time sheets ahead of Fortec
Motorsport
driver,
Mike Conway, and American Charlie Kimball, who lines up for Carlin Motorsport.
Even though a few showers affected the test session, the first nine drivers were
within one second, showing a very competitive field for the seaosn ahead.
Although the weather didn’t play along and it rained slightly from mid-morning
onwards, the SRO Media day was graced by a fantastic crowd of the motoring press,
sponsors, invited guests and motorsport enthusiasts.
The F3 grid will be out testing at Croft on Tuesday and Wednesday next week,
for the last time before the first round at Donington Park.
