Rallycross Season Opens at Lydden Hill
22 March
2005
After the cancellation of the opening round
of the BTRDA championship at Croft earlier in the month, Lydden hill,
in Kent, will now play host
to the opening round of both the BRDA and BTRDA championships on the
28th of March (Easter monday).
This will be the first competitive
event for MSportUK featured driver, Simon
Horton, in his brand new
Rover Metro GTI stock hatch and he is looking forward to racing at
what is known as the home of British rallycross.
"I would have preferred
the new car to have its first race to at a more local circuit, but
due to situations out of our hands we will have had to make
its debut the Lydden event. I’m sure everything will be
fine on the day, but there is always that small amount of
worry when you introduce a new car, especially when the first race
is so far away." Commented
Simon.
"If the weather is good and I can get the metro
off the line quickly, which is not always the easiest I can assure
you, then I think it will be a tricky little car to catch and should
certainly give the front runners something to think about."
Since the cancelled Croft event, Simon has
spent more time setting up the car and is determine to push hard to
secure a good points finish
and get the season off to a great start. Both Simon and his cousin
Richard, who drives a Peugeot 205 in the stock hatch class, will
again be racing each other and it will be good to see the difference
between both the cars and the driving styles.
