Breeze Fastest in Pre-Season SEAT Cupra Testing
01 April 2005
Carl Breeze
set the fastest time in the official SEAT Cupra Championship pre-season
test session at a hot and sunny Thruxton circuit today.
The 25-year
old former BTCC driver from King’s Lynn in Norfolk lapped the
ultra-fast 2.356 mile Hampshire track in 1:23.105, precisely 0.343
seconds quicker than his nearest rival in his Barwell Motorsport-prepared
Leon Cupra R.
"I’m really pleased," said Carl. "It’s
the first head-to-head test I’ve had with the people I’ll
be racing against this year, and I did two or three laps which would
have been good enough to set fastest time. We put a fresh Pirelli
tyre on the front left, but the chequered flag came out before we could
set a hot lap. Had we had time for one more lap I reckon we could
have been inside the 22s.
"I’m all set now for the first
race meeting next weekend. We’ve already tested at Donington
Park and now we’ve been to Thruxton so we have a good set-up
for the first two race meetings of the year. It means we already
have a good base set-up, so come race weekend we can just concentrate
on qualifying well."
Tom Ferrier was second fastest in his Team
Parker Racing Leon Cupra R, while Alan Blencowe rounded off a good
day for Barwell Motorsport by setting the third fastest time
