British Driver Looks Forward to "Fighting
for a Podium in Each Round" of FIA GT Championship
08 April 2005
Justin Keen the British
driver competing in the FIA GT series with Lister cars successfully
completed the free practice session in preparation for the first grand
prix of the 2005 season.
"It was exciting to finally get going
with the season. We had some concerns during winter testing but the
hard work back in the factory has paid off today, even if the rain
didn’t allowus to run the entire program", said Justin.
"I
am thrilled to be back in a full-time seat especially with such a competitive
car as the Lister. Laurence Pearce has put a great team together and
now that the winter reliability issues are gone I am confident we will
be fighting for podium finishes at each race."
How does it feel
to race with a woman, is a question that Justin has been faced with
quite often during the winter. “It does not make any difference
to me. Liz Halliday is a very talented driver and as a woman she has
different views and approaches, which so far has been very helpful|,
says Justin. "Liz has all the elements one would expect to see
in a teammate. Her approach to racing is very professional, she is
driven by results and isextremely focused."
"I don’t believe
being a woman or man makes a difference. Once one has his helmet on
and is out there we are all equal - the fastest and the most consistent
wins. I would not change Liz for anybody else on the grid"
Justin
Keen also announced today his participation to the Le Mans Endurance
Series with Lister. "The opportunity to partner with Jan Magnusen
and Jens Moller for the first race in Spa arose couple of weeks ago.
We managed to put a package together and I am proud to announce that
I will be racing in Spa with Jan and Jens.”
"Spa is one
of my favorite circuits and I have had a lot of good results there.
I love endurance racing and being part of a competitive team such as
Lister makes it even better."
"This is one-off deal and
at this stage I don’t know whether I will participate in the
rest of the Le Mans Endurance Series but while my immediate focus is
here in Monza, I am looking forward to Spa and hope to achieve a good
result."
This weekend’s FIA GT schedule has been changed
due to the pope’s funeral with Friday’s program being cancelled
but Saturday and Sunday remain unchanged.
