at The Silverstone Classic
20 April 2005
Following the official launch of The Silverstone Classic, in association
with Bonhams, Silverstone’s new-look revived annual historic
festival, organisers have today announced a two-day, 17 race event
programme representing six decades of Formula One and World Sportscars.
Silverstone has also confirmed that races featuring cars from specific
eras will be named after drivers of the period, with individual ‘Past
Master’ trophies also being awarded at the July event.
In addition, Haymarket titles Classic & Sports Car and MotorSport
have confirmed a long-term agreement to support The Silverstone Classic
with a comprehensive marketing and promotion programme in both their
top selling classic motorsport publications. Readers will have the
chance to enter exclusive competitions to win highly sought after VIP
tickets to The Silverstone Classic (30/31 July), and a passenger ride
in a historic sports car around the world famous Silverstone Historic
Grand Prix Circuit.
For the majority of the 17 races, past masters such as Innes Ireland,
Derek Bell, John Cooper, Jack Sears and Reg Parnell will be remembered
with named trophies being awarded to each race winner. The famous British
Empire Trophy and Silverstone International Trophy will also be awarded
to the Sunday winners of the Group C/GTP race, and the only British
round of the 2005 FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix World Championship.
The event boasts a comprehensive programme
of races for an array of cars from the 1930s through to the 1980s.
Six decades of sensational classic motorsport will be witnessed over
almost nine hours of racing and four hours of practice and qualifying.
Tickets are available from just £10 per adult (if booked in advance)
with admission for children (aged 15 and under) and parking FREE. The
new-look Silverstone Classic in association with Bonhams is set to
re-establish the festival that was loved and enjoyed by thousands of
motor racing fans throughout the 1990’s at Silverstone’s
historic Grand Prix circuit.
