Largest Ever GT3 Grid Assembles for British
GT Rounds at Croft
05 May 2005
This coming weekend, Croft will see the biggest-ever GT3 category
grid in the history of the British GT Championship.
After the cars from
the GT2 class had their second round at Magny Cours last weekend, within
the FIA GT Championship, the GT3 cars head for Croft this weekend,
where they will compete in two one-hour races.
The grid will include
eleven Porsche GT3 Cup cars, five Ferrari 360s, two BMW Z3M Coupes,
one Morgan Aero 8GT and one Marcos Mantis. This weekend also sees the
addition of two new teams to the grid, with both ABG Motorsport and
David Dove Racing making their first appearance of the 2005 season.
Not only will all the teams be fighting for the overall win, it will
give
competitors and media alike the chance to concentrate on the GT3 Championship.
Compared
to Donington Park, which took place five weeks ago, the format of the
weekend at Croft is completely different. There will be two qualifying
sessions of 15 minutes on Saturday morning. The opening qualifying
session on Saturday will decide the grid for the race later that day,
with second qualifying
deciding the starting order for Sunday’s race.
The first GT race
will start on Saturday afternoon and will run for an hour, one hour
less than the long-distance race at Donington Park. The second GT race
of the weekend will start on Sunday afternoon and will also last for
one hour.
