Champion Bromley Returns to Caterham
10 June 2005
Reigning Caterham Roadsport Challenge Champion James Bromley is to
return to the Caterham Motorsport fold from next month.
The 30-year-old is abandoning his bid for success in an alternative
sports car championship and will instead race an R400 in the Powertrain
Caterham Challenge
for the remainder of the season.
It's a real homecoming for the Surrey-based racer, who began his track career
in the Caterham Academy in 2002. He finished second in that championship and
went on to win the Roadsport B crown in '03 and the Roadsport A title last year,
taking four race victories along the way.
"It will be great to get back into a Caterham," said James, "and
feel a proper racing car underneath me once more. The grass looked greener but
I've tried driving something else now, I haven't enjoyed it and I can't wait
to get into an R400."
Bromley will campaign an Ultimate Motorsport-run car alongside Jack
Newland and Soh Fukushima, with backing from the chemistry.co.uk
dating agency. An
exploratory
Autosport Caterham Eurocup outing is also on the agenda for later in the year.
"I've never raced an R400 before and I've a lot to learn," added James, "so
I'm pleased there's plenty of time for testing before the next rounds." The
championship swings back into action in mid-July at Snetterton with Will Mitcham
defending an 11-point R400 championship lead over Nick Payne.
Backing for the Powertrain Caterham Challenge comes from Arch Motors,
Autosport, Bilstein, Comma, Cooper-Avon Tyres, HSBC Insurance Brokers,
Mitchell Cotts,
PTP and Stack.
