Finalist Stefan Davis has been pursuing his dream to become a professional
rally
driver. Stefan has been participating
in the Peugeot 205 1.9 Scholarship a purpose built Scholarship for
potential
future
professional
rally
drivers.
Stefan’s performance on the last round on the Mid Wales
Stages saw him forge his way up to an amazing 2nd place out of
the 21 scholarship hopefuls. Stefan has not had everything go his way
of late but consistently fast performances have led him to a fantastic
second place and he's determined to go one better.
“We never
expected to be doing quite so well this early on but we are finally
finding some reliability in our home built and run car and I am just
getting quicker and quicker every time I sit in it", said the
Junior Rally Driver.
Stefan has 3 rounds left in which to challenge
for the lead on the Scholarship and there are also no shortage of professionals
in the sport who are keeping a close eye on Stefan’s progress.
The investment in rallying is not cheap and Stefan has faced an uphill
struggle in finding the funds he needs. Despite working 7 day weeks
and now some evenings at Brands Hatch Rally School, the snowballing
cost of rallying is beginning to take its toll. With a team of volunteers
giving up their spare time to help prepare, and support the car
on each event, Stefan now needs the next part of the formula for success – a
sponsor. This will be the keystone in the wall of
Stefan’s career and needs to be found before the next round.
Stefan has already established a great media presence with numerous
TV and local and national press appearances, and is committed to providing
the dynamic opportunities for a
sponsor that rallying allows.
Stefan said “Rallying
has taken over my life, it’s all I think about 24/7 and I can’t
even think of not making it to the pinnacle of the sport in the country.
The thought of not being able to compete in the final 3 rounds and
holding a top 3 finish in the scholarship breaks my heart. I am surrounded
by fast committed drivers and holding my own and really want to prove
I have what it takes to succeed. I just know now my 3 years of hard
work are about to go down the pan without help from a kind hearted
sponsor”.
Stefan’s next round is Swansea Bay National Rally
on July 25th running on the same stages used on the World Rally Championship
round - Wales
Rally GB, and Stefan is desperate to succeed and he just needs help.
