See Red Glows Golden
08 September 2005
Brilliant sunshine blessed the huge crowds
at Donington Park over 3-4 September for SeeRed, The Vintage Sports-Car
Club’s Italian themed Historic Racing Festival.
The thousands
of people who attended witnessed the most exciting racing with some
of the finest grids of pre-war cars ever at Donington Park. Highlights
of the programme were the races for Maserati racing cars only, when
over 12 Maserati 250Fs took to the grid alongside other fine examples
from the marque, won by Mark Hales in a 250F and the Richard Seaman
Historic Trophy race modelled on the first Donington Grand Prix in
1935.
Other memorable events included the rapid Group C cars,
the guest appearance of ex-motor cycle champion, Phil Read in the Lansdowne
Motor
Cycle races, Spitfire air displays and the Ferrari Formula One track
demonstration.
Event Director Julian Ghosh said "There are many types
of motor racing festivals nowadays and SeeRed has obviously established
itself among them with its charismatic mixture of the old and the new.
The varied menu of racing allows superb machinery to be seen doing
what it was built to do!"
SeeRed 2006 is provisionally arranged for
2-3 September and exciting details of plans for ‘GP100’ at
SeeRed will be announced soon.
Race results and further reports are available on the
event website, www.see-red.uk.com.
