Winning Ways for Juno in Britsports
08 November 2005
Preston based Juno Racing sealed another impressive victory this weekend
at the Britsports Winter Series at Snetterton, Norfolk.
The silver Juno SS3-V6 was driven in the event by MSportUK Featured
Driver, Ryan Hooker
(Upminster, Essex) and Jeff Davies (Swansea). Davies already had a Juno
victory under his belt after driving the SS3-V6 at a WRDA event in September
and was keen to add further silverware. However, for 26 year old Hooker
this was his first outing in the Juno having competed in various GT
series this season, including FIA GT.
Before the race on Saturday, Hooker took part in a test session on
Friday which confirmed to him the glowing reports he had heard about
the speed and performance of the Juno.
"It was a real pleasure to drive" commented Ryan after his
first day at the wheel. "The set up and performance was there from
the second I went out on track. It drives beautifully and the potential
is immense. It’s a real credit to the Juno Team and their team
director and designer Ewan Baldry."
The positive feel flowed through to Saturday when in qualifying Hooker
put in a record lap for the Britsports series at Snetterton and in doing
so took pole by almost 1.7seconds.
Hooker started the race, in overcast conditions, and soon eked out
a large lead before a safety car period bunched the field up. Once the
green flag was given Hooker once again stretched his lead before handing
over to Davies. A second safety car period played to the advantage of
the Chiron car allowing them to snatch the lead but with Davies lapping
almost 4 seconds a lap quicker he soon placed the Juno back at the front
of the pack and by the chequered flag the win was taken by over 37seconds.
"It has been a marvellous weekend" commented Team Director,
Ewan Baldry afterwards. "Jeff is really tuning into the car now
and it is obvious how much he is enjoying the car. This was the first
time Ryan has raced with us and I was very impressed. This weekend we
have further cemented our reputation as leaders and demonstrated the
strength and speed of the Juno."
Drivers and teams who are interested in the prospect of running a
Juno are invited to contact Ewan Baldry on 07971 531763 or email ewan@junoracing.co.uk
to arrange an informal meeting and discuss forthcoming testing opportunities.
