Juno Victorious in Britsports Winter Series
21 November 2005
Juno Racing sealed another victory in the Britsports Winter Series
this weekend. Competing at Brands Hatch, the Lancastrian outfit sported
two Juno SS3-V6s in the event for proud new owners Jeff Davies and James
Richardson.
Jeff Davies (Swansea) was partnered for the event by Ryan Hooker (Essex)
whilst James Richardson (Essex) teamed up alongside Ben Devlin (Norfolk),
with both cars enjoying successes.
The weekend’s racing was separated into two 45 minute races
with the aggregate time deciding the overall winner.
Qualifying saw the Junos taking 2nd (Richardson/Devlin) and 5th on
the grid (Davies/Hooker) which featured Radicals, Jades and a Chiron
amongst others.
In race one, Davies elected to race the entirety with Hooker taking
over duties for race two, whilst Richardson/Devlin took stints in each
race.
The frosty conditions gave way to a sunny and dry day for the first
race, held on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Sadly, Richardson/Devlin
were unable to take advantage of their excellent qualifying position
as a silencer alteration forced them to join the race a number of laps
down, putting them very much on the back foot. Elsewhere, Davies was
making great inroads into his competitors to eventually take the race
one win by over 15 seconds. Richardson/Devlin battled to a respectable
eighth place and in doing so Ben Devlin put in a stunning lap of 43.967seconds.
In race two it was all to go the Junos’ way as a red hot battle
on track saw Richardson/Devlin take the lead with Hooker close behind
in their wheeltracks to seal a Juno 1-2 at the finish.
On aggregate, the overall winners were Davies/Hooker – a clear
2 laps ahead of the opposition - taking their second victory in the
Britsports Winter Series. Richardson/Devlin finished in third overall,
a superb fight back, putting both Junos on the podium.
“It has been another fantastic event for the whole team”
said Team Director, Ewan Baldry, “and Ben's sub 44second lap really
put the icing on the cake this weekend as it demonstrated the speed
of the SS3-V6.”
As well as recently selling Juno SS3-V6s to Jeff Davies and James
Richardson, Mike Roberts has also bought a Juno SS3-V6 guaranteeing
an increased Juno presence on the track in 2006. The Juno marque looks
set to go beyond the United Kingdom with the team on the cusp of confirming
a further sale for a competitor looking towards the 2006 V de V Championship.
Juno Racing have also been further bolstered with the warm reception
to their new Juno TR range, their specialist trackday car range, having
sold three since the launch a short time ago.
