Demon Tweeks to Partner Caterham Academy
12 January 2006
Britain's leading supplier of racewear, competition and road tuning
equipment, Demon Tweeks, is to be a sponsor of the 2006 evo Caterham
Academy, it is announced today.
Welcoming Demon Tweeks to the championship - Caterham's starter series
for track novices - Caterham director of motorsport Magnus Laird said:
"Demon Tweeks is long established as the country's top supplier
of motorsport apparel and accessories, and as such is the perfect partner
for the Caterham Academy, which does more than any other championship
to encourage newcomers to the sport."
Steve Bell, Demon Tweeks marketing director, added: "Demon Tweeks
is delighted to be a sponsor of the Caterham Academy in 2006. The championship
is the ideal starting point for the newcomer to motorsport and we are
very pleased to offer our support to it. The unrivalled Demon Tweeks
product range offers all competitor requirements, from novice to seasoned
professional, as they prepare for the season. We look forward to being
of service to the Academy competitors as they battle it out in the coming
year. We expect to see some great racing."
The evo Caterham Academy is the ideal starting point for any budding
motor sport career, combining superb competition training and experience
with unrivalled value for money. For a subsidised outlay of just £16,495
including VAT, entrants get not only a road-legal Caterham 1.6 sports
car - theirs to keep - but also full ARDS tuition for their MSA National
B racing licence, club membership, a test day with instruction, championship
registration and paid-for entries into three sprint events, a hillclimb
and four circuit races.
The Academy concept is one that has proved tremendously successful.
Since its inception in 1995 the championship has produced 500 new racers,
and since 2000 take-up levels have been so great that two completely
separate championship groups have been organised, allowing up to 56
newcomers - 28 in each division - to get a foot on the bottom rung of
the motor-sporting ladder.
The Academy attracts an eclectic mix of people and professions, including
this season several students, a police officer, investment bankers,
IT professionals, a Lloyds underwriter and a primary school teacher.
This year's championship gets underway in early February, when registrants
will gather at the Castle Combe Racing School to sit their Association
of Racing Drivers Schools examinations. In late March drivers will benefit
from a special test day, again held at Castle Combe, ahead of the first
competitive event, a sprint at Aintree on 22 April.
Based in Wrexham North Wales and with 35 years experience in motorsport
equipment mail order distribution, Demon Tweeks has just released its
largest ever catalogue.
With 426 pages, the Demon Tweeks Motorsport Catalogue offers quality
motorsport products for competitors of all abilities and experience.
