British Stars Set to Shine at FIA World Touring Car Championship

12 May 2006

The biggest touring car Battle in Britain comes to Brands Hatch next weekend! Britain's Andy Priaulx is the reigning WTCC champion, and heads to the Kent circuit as points leader after 2 wins from 4 races. Holding onto that lead will be tough with 25 of the best drivers in the world all ready to do battle to win, and the biggest challenge will come from Priaulx's fellow countryman James Thompson.

Touring Car super-hero Thompson is taking on dual campaigns this season, as the Yorkshireman competes for SEAT in both World Touring Cars and selected rounds of British Touring Cars. Thompson claimed two BTCC wins at Brands Hatch just last month, and hopes his experience will give him the edge next weekend.

"The Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit is a fantastic track, probably my favourite British track along with the long circuit at Oulton Park" declared Thompson. "I know Brands better than any other circuit the WTCC uses, so I'd like to think I've got a really good chance to win there; the problem is that there's probably four others who are in the same position!"

Watch Thompson and Priaulx take the fight to the world's best touring car drivers in a star-studded line up on Sunday 21 May. Along with two WTCC races, the line up features historic racing, Formula BMW, Formula Palmer Audi and F3000 International Masters.

And don't forget F1 legend Nigel Mansell who will also be making a special appearance, demonstrating the sensational BMW M3 GTR on the Grand Prix circuit.
