Motorsport Stars Back Charity Kart Race at
Autosport International
07 December 2006
David Brabham's fundraising organisation www.racing4charity.com
has teamed up with Autosport International to organise a one-hour celebrity
kart race with an unusual twist on Friday 12 January, with more celebrities
than public drivers taking to the track at the NEC, Birmingham. Ten
celebrity teams from various championships will race each other to see
exactly who is 'top of the formulas' and each team will represent a
different charity.
The fun starts at 3.30pm on Friday, with practice preceding a one-hour
race, on the indoor kart circuit operated by Oxford Karting Limited
and Motorsport World. The winning team will decide which charity will
benefit from the cash pot whilst each team will be joined by one paying
member of the public, but demand is high for a place in this rather
special charity event.
Superstar drivers include David Brabham, Dan Eaves, Paul O'Neill, Peter
Dumbreck, Kelvin Burt, Darren Turner, Rob Collard, Danny Watts, Tim
Sugden, Bradley Ellis, James Walker, Chris Niarchos, Tim Mullen, Martin
Plowman and Ryan Lewis. Teams will stretch across a wide variety of
motorsport formulas including ALMS, British Formula 3, Formula Renault,
BTCC, British GTs and Ginetta. Jamie Green, Gary Paffett and Susie Stoddart
are also working to enter a DTM driver team.
The event will be televised and the organisers are actively seeking
sponsors to donate to the chosen charities. Each team will carry a sponsor
for a fee of £3,000, so if you wish to join in the fun, as a driver
or team sponsor, contact Bill Williams from www.racing4charity.com
by e mailing bill@racing4charity.com or call 07712 578263.
The public entry fee to take part in this exclusive charity event is
£300.00, which includes full access to Autosport International
on an exclusive trade day, allowing you to beat the crowds. Join Britain’s
top drivers, see yourself on TV and do something for charity!
