Force Ten Motorsport to Contest VW Racing
Cup
25 March
2007
Championship-winning team Force Ten Motorsport is to join the ranks
of the Volkswagen Racing Cup, it is announced today. The squad will
be fielding sports car championship title winner Jamie Perry in a 2.8-litre
V6 Golf.
Force Ten are joining forces with Aylesbury Volkswagen retailer Keith
Garages to contest the Hankook-backed championship, which gets underway
at Oulton Park on Easter Monday (9 Apr).
Keith Garages will maintain the Golf between events and provide senior
technicians to work on it at events. 'It's a superb arrangement for
us,' says Force Ten Motorsport team principal Simon Kemp, 'because
the unrivalled technical knowledge of Keith's staff will dovetail with
the racing expertise of our own team members.'
Kemp says Force Ten has chosen the Racing Cup 'because we felt it
had the right balance in terms of status and profile against cost to
compete'. He believes Jamie will go well: 'It's our aim to be in a
position to win the championship within three seasons.'
The team's assault has attracted additional backing from Hanson Holdings
Worldwide and Herald Insurance Brokers.
Perry's previous successes have come at the wheel of an MG. He started
competing in the MG Owners Club championship in 1999 and, at the wheel
of an MGF prepared by Kemp and his team, won the series outright in
2004.
Jamie is one of a host of experienced newcomers to the Racing Cup
in 2007. Also moving up to the championship are saloon racers Darren
Blumson, Doug Ross and Richard Kingsnorth.
The Volkswagen Racing Cup in association with Hankook enjoys the additional
support of Augustus Martin, Castrol, ECM Vehicle Delivery, Europcar,
Milltek Sport, Mondial Assistance, KW Automotive, Superchips, TNT Logistics,
Turbo Dynamics, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volkswagen Financial
Services UK.
