Hi-Tech Leads the Way in Snetterton F3 Test
04 May 2007
Championship leading Hitech Racing underlined its domination of the
2007 Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula 3 International Series by
topping the times in the two-day test at Snetterton this week, posting
the quickest ever F3 lap at the Norfolk track.
Estonian Asmer, who
currently leads the 22-round series by 34 points after winning three
of the opening four rounds, posted the quickest time of the two days
in yesterday morning’s three-hour session,
which could not be improved upon in the afternoon. His time of 1:00.643
saw the 22 year-old lap the 1.9 mile track at an average speed of 115.86mph
and fired a warning shot to his rivals ahead of the Snetterton round
next month.
His team-mate Austrian Walter Grubmüller lost two hours
in the afternoon with a clutch bearing problem but the 18 year-old
F3 rookie recovered well to post the ninth quickest time overall. The
teenager, in his first season in the series, has improved at every
outing leaving team principal David Hayle delighted with the performance
of his young charge.
