June 2007
Monster Jam, the original, biggest and baddest
monster truck show in the world is returning to the UK. Live Nation – Motor
Sports is proud to announce the largest ever European show - this is
live, loud and larger than ever!
The high octane Monster Jam is a stunning
family show consisting of the coolest monster trucks and Freestyle
Motocross with some of the world’s best
drivers, sickest tricks and craziest stunts. The show hits the Millennium
Stadium in Cardiff – making its Welsh debut for this one-off
UK show – on 27 October 2007. The tickets go on sale to the public
on Friday, June 1st and are available from the hotline on 02920 224
488 or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
Monster Jam is one of the biggest and most popular entertainment
events in the US running around 250 shows and selling 2.3 million tickets
annually.
Bravo 2, Bravo’s younger-skewed entertainment channel, has signed
an exclusive deal with Live Nation to become the first UK television
home of the Monster Jam series of live events making up the annual
World Championships, which culminate in a World Series Final. The shows
are on every Saturday at 4pm from May 26.
A monster truck is approximately 11 feet tall and 12 feet wide. They
are unique custom-designed machines and weigh a minimum of 9,000 pounds.
The tyres alone are 66-inches tall! Monster trucks are built for short,
high-powered bursts of speed; these beasts generate 1,500 to 2,000
horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster
trucks can jump a distrance 110 to 115 feet (a distance greater than
14 cars side by side) and up to 25 feet in the air.
All monster trucks have names – Grave Digger, Monster Mutt,
Maximum Destruction, Batman, Escalade and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
are already confirmed for the Millennium date, Saturday, 27th October,
six more will be announced soon; making a total of 12 trucks. The monster
trucks compete in two different competitions - side-by-side racing
and freestyle. Side-by-side is the traditional format - the first truck,
with the least penalties, across the line is the winner. The freestyle
competition allows drivers a limited amount of time on the open floor
to show off their skills and outrageous tricks, jumping and crushing
as many obstacles as possible.
As well as the tickets allowing access to the show, Monster Jam fans
can buy tickets for the pre-show pit party. This is an exclusive chance
to meet the drivers of the monster trucks and see the trucks up close.
The Pit Party ticket (can only be purchased with a show ticket) gives
access to the actual competition floor of the Millennium Stadium where
fans can see firsthand where the action happens. The Pit Party is a
great opportunity to get up close and personal with Monster Jamand
see just how big the trucks really are. It’s also a great time
to get pictures and autographs.
Monster Jam is a one-of-a-kind experience. It is here for one show
only - don’t miss out!
