HiTech Look to End British F3 Season on a High

Three weeks after clinching the coveted 2007 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series, Hitech Racing heads to the final rounds at Rockingham next week determined to end the season the way it started – with victory. For 23 year-old Marko Asmer and his talented young team-mate Walter Grubmüller, the last two rounds of the British calendar at the Northamptonshire track have very different objectives.

Whilst the experienced Asmer looks to extend his winning tally to 12 with double victory around the superb oval track near Corby, 18 year-old rookie Grubmüller aims to end his season on a high as he looks towards a long-awaited podium finish. The Silverstone-based team, which lifted its first crown with Estonian Asmer last time out at Croft, will not rest on its laurels either.

The David Hayle-led outfit, has always put race wins over championship hopes, and that philosophy has stood the team in good stead as it enters its final British challenge of 2007

For Hayle 2007 has seen the realisation of a personal goal and one which he is quick to attribute to the whole of the Hitech Racing team. “Winning the British Formula 3 title has long been a personal goal of mine and so of course I’m delighted to have achieved that. However it’s very much a team effort, every person within the team has their part to play and everyone can take equal credit for winning the series.

“Next weekend at Rockingham, that same team will be out there bidding for victory as we always do, taking it race by race and working the best way we can to try and achieve the best results possible. Both Marko and Walter have driven very well this year, all credit to Marko on his superb driving abilities which have already netted him 10 wins and Walter, in only his first season at this high level of competition, has improved steadily throughout the year and has a lot of promise ready to be fulfilled.”

The weekend’s action kicks off with testing at the circuit on Friday prior to official qualifying on Saturday at 10.45 and 13.45. The two races are scheduled to take place on Sunday at 11.35 and 14.55
