Essex based Chad Racing is returning to the Avon Tyres British GT
Championship next season with a two car assault on the most competitive
race series in the UK. The team will run two GT3 class Ferrari F430’s, with
Matt Griffin and Peter Bamford, who previously raced a Porsche 997,
lined up to drive one of the cars. The deal with the second driver
pairing is finalised and will be announced in the new year.
Team Manager Piers Masarati said: "We are going to run two Ferrari
F430’s competing in a full season of British GT. The first car
arrives on the 10th January, with the second arriving in February.
The driver pairing of Matt Griffin and Peter Bamford delivers plenty
of racing experience and the deal with the second driver pairing is
completed and we’ll announce the names in the new year. Throughout
the 2007 season the Ferrari was arguably the quickest car and with
proven reliability. Potentially we will have a one of the strongest
driver line up on the grid next season and we’ve backed this
up by employing key people with Ferrari experience on the engineering
side providing strength and depth for next season."
Chad Racing will also run a GT3 class Lamborghini Gallardo in the Belcar
Series but haven’t ruled out selected outings in British GT should
the opportunity present itself.
The 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship features 14 rounds at eight
of the UK’s top circuits, starting at Oulton Park in Cheshire
at Easter.
