Ferrari and Maserati Festival Fun
Donington Park, 24-25 May 2003
12 May 2003
One of the world's largest gatherings of exotic Ferrari
and Maserati cars will take place over the weekend of 24-25 May, when
the 2003 'Ferrari and Maserati Festival' is staged at the historic Donington
Park race circuit near Nottingham and Derby.
Now established as the UK's premier event for the two
famous Italian marques, the third running of the annual Festival will
present a spectacular programme of racing and high-speed displays around
Donington's 1.96-mile National Circuit. More than 200 Ferraris will
star on-track, with five races and two displays on Saturday, followed
by seven races and three displays on Sunday.
Hundreds of Ferrari and Maserati owners from across the
UK and Europe are expected to drive their cars to the Leicestershire
circuit to enjoy the unique atmosphere and excitement generated by the
event. It will be the first time the Festival has been celebrated in
the Midlands and it is expected to attract over 25,000 spectators.
"There's simply nothing in the world of motoring
that stirs the emotions like the sight and sound of a Ferrari being
driven at high speed - whether it's a Ferrari F1 racecar or a road-going
sportscar, comments Robert Hazelwood, Managing Director of Maranello
Concessionaires Ltd, distributor of Ferrari and Maserati cars in the
UK. "With more than 200 Ferraris in action, the Festival will be
this year's most spectacular Ferrari and Maserati event in the UK.
"The Festival will be a Ferrari and Maserati enthusiasts
dream. There will be so much to see and enjoy on track and in the paddock,
and even the public car parks will contain more exotic cars than can
usually be seen at a Motor Show."
Twelve
race programme ensures a weekend of thrills.
While all the racing is sure to create a stunning mix
of sounds, colours, drama technology and nostalgia, the two races for
the Ferrari 360 Challenge Trofeo Pirelli are certain to generate the
most spectacularly hard-fought action. The Donington race will be the
second round of the pan-European Challenge series which features 44
cars, as 22 teams from 10 countries, battle for glory in identical cars
with close-matched performance.
The Trofeo Pirelli races which star on Saturday and Sunday,
will be supported by races for the Coppa Shell, Pirelli Maranello Ferrari
Challenge , Ferrari formula Classic, Force Classic Prix, Force Formula
5000, Thorogood GTA Challenge and Top Hat Historic Touring Car Series.
High Speed Demonstrations
Both days will also feature demonstrations run by the
1999 ex-Michael Schumacher Ferrari F399 F1 car, a Supercar Run by Ferrari
288 GTO, F40, F50 cars and the sensational new, V12-powered, 217mph
Enzo, making its very first UK track appearance.
Ferrari and Maserati customers can obtain further
details of special hospitality packages, including weekend circuit passes,
from authorised dealers and from the Ferrari Owners Club.
