Days of Thunder Promises Non-Stop TV Action

13 May 2003

The action-packed opening rounds of the 2003 ASCAR Days of Thunder racing series are set to make stunning television viewing this weekend, as every one of the incidents in the two races has been caught on multiple cameras!

Rehfield Wins ASCAR Race 2"Its awesome. Our production company, PMA TV are genuinely having trouble getting every view of every incident into the programme" said Rockingham CEO Ashley Pover. "It's going to make a really action packed show. The first corner incident between Michael Vergers and Ian McKellar Junior is covered by no fewer than six on-board cameras and from three different trackside angles!"

Following the first race victory by 'Flying Dutchman' Michael Vergers, a further highlight of the days racing was the stunning three-way battle at the head of the second race, between Vergers, the eventual winner Roland Rehfeld and the Team TA car of Ben Collins. Vergers and Collings actually made two complete laps side-by-side at over 150mph, before Collins prevailed to take second place.

A 30-minute programme, hosted by Helen Chamberlain of Soccer AM fame, will be shown on Channel 4 on a late evening slot on Friday May 29. Check listings for further details. An hour-long programme featuring the opening round of the series will be shown on Motors TV (Sky Channel 416) at the following times: Saturday 17th May, 2200-2300; Sunday 18th May, 2500-2600 (ie 1am Monday); Monday 19th May, 0900-1000; Tuesday 20th May, 1600-1700; Wednesday 21st May, 1300-1400, 2100-2200; Thursday 22nd May , 2400-2500; Friday 23rd May 1700-1800. These times are correct whether you are watching in the UK (ie BST times) or overseas in the CET time zone as the UK signal is delayed by one hour.
