European
LeMans Series
Following a short race schedule in its inaugural year, the European
series follows on from the success of the hugely successful American
Series taking the ultimate in sportscars from the famed 24 hour race
to endurace events around Europe.
The Series runs four classes, two each for Prototypes and GT cars.
The front-runners are the LMP900 class for LeMans Prototypes weighing
a minimum of 900kgs with up to six litre engines. The LMP675 class
follows with minimum weights of 675kgs and 3.4 litres maximum engine
capacity. The remaining categories are for production based Grand
Touring cars in GTS and GT classes. GTS, the more powerful of the
two includes the mighty Dodge Viper GTS-R and all-new Saleen S7-R.
The lower power class features cars such as Porsches 911 GT3-R and
the latest BMW E46 M3-GTR
