Series Overview
Caterham’s new track challenger, the Seven CSR 260,
will have its own endurance race series in 2005 in the Cosworth
Caterham Masters. The 260bhp Caterham CSR 260 has been race bred to provide
the ultimate motorsport
experience
and the race series will be run under the auspices of the Caterham
Club Germany, the successful organisers of the domestic German Caterham championship.
Caterham Roadsport B is a class designed to allow drivers to step
up from the Academy without the need for major technical enhancements
to their cars. Drive is provided by a 1.6-litre MG XPOWER unit developing
120bhp; five-speed gearbox; Avon treaded tyres. The Roadsport Inter
class is mechanically virtually identical but with the adoption of
wider-track front suspension and racing dampers, worth around a second
a lap
at most circuits. Additionally, the Roadsport A cars – which have 133bhp
and six-speed gearboxes – this
year join the R400s on the grid for a revised premier UK Caterham championship,
the Powertrain Caterham Challenge, and also for the Autosport
Caterham Eurocup.
The Caterham Academy is a unique introduction to Motorsport. It was
set up to create the first rung on the motorsport ladder and since
its conception in 1995, has proved to be an unprecedented success,
selling all available places well ahead of the race season.
