Le
Mans Endurance Series
Following on the heels of the hugely successful American Le Mans Series,
this new European equivalent takes the ultimate in sportscars from the
famed 24 hour race and sees them compete in 1000km endurance events
across Europe.
The Series runs four classes, two each for Prototypes and GT cars.
The front-runners are the LMP1 class for LeMans Prototypes weighing
a minimum of 900kgs with up to six litre engines. The LMP2 class follows
with minimum weights of 675kgs and 3.4 litres maximum engine capacity.
The remaining categories are for production based Grand Touring cars
in GT1 and GT2 classes.
