World Indoor Speed Record
Autocar in association with Autosport International set a new indoor
speed world record at the NEC, Birmingham, on Tuesday 12 December 2006
by setting a speed of 82 mph over a 210-metre run through Hall 5. Cars
totalling £750,000 were put through their paces in a unique time
trial session, each car having three timed runs.
While attempting the record Autocar editor at large Steve Sutcliffe
managed to set another new record – the indoor road car speed
record in an Ariel Atom which reached 76.8 mph. Read
